Summary form only given. Near resonant holographic interferometry (NRHI) is a technique which significantly enhances the capabilities of conventional holographic interferometry. This technique permits accurate two-dimensional number densities for a selected atomic species to be determined, as has been demonstrated by the authors in various high temperature gas flow environments.
