Hybrid converter topologies with better power processing density and reliability can be well suited for systems with simultaneous DC and AC loads in smart residential systems. To meet this requirement, hybrid converters were introduced. But the hybrid converters have right half plane (RHP) zero in the open loop control to output DC voltage transfer function. Due to this RHP zero, the performance of hybrid converters is poor under heavy load requirements and also controller design becomes complex. In this paper, a minimum phase hybrid boost converter is proposed for smart residential uninterruptible power supply systems, which is derived from a minimum phase boost converter. The hybrid converter displays a minimum phase behavior due to the complete elimination of the RHP zero in the DC voltage transfer function. Due to the minimum phase behavior, the hybrid converter gives good dynamic performance under heavy load requirements by supplying DC and AC outputs simultaneously. Simulation results are presented to validate the steady statebehavior and dynamic behavior of proposed minimum phase hybrid boost converter.
