A railway signalling company's main role is to design and supply signalling systems and products. However in-service operation is crucial to the smooth running of the railway, and suppliers have to be equally aware of the needs of maintenance and operational staff. Remote condition monitoring can play a big part in fault prevention and maintenance efficiency: signalling suppliers can contribute, not only by incorporating sensible RCM outputs in their equipment, but in providing properly integrated information on the signalled railway to the people who need it.
