The document reports the research, development, and pilot test of a basic training program for police traffic services. A functional task analysis of the job entitled 'Patrolman' or 'Police Officer' provided the outline of a 103 hour in-service course. Lesson units of the curriculum are grouped by these functions: traffic law, traffic direction and control, traffic law enforcement, accident site management, traffic court, and services for motorists. A description of the pilot testing of the course materials is included, along with a complete list of references used in the development of the course.
