The report covers a feasibility study on the standardization of existing electrical systems on U. S. Army marine craft. It was determined that 208/120-volt, 60-cycle, 3-phase, grounded-neutral electrical systems on all ships--except small battery equipped boats--offer thousands of dollars in savings per ship in operating costs; lower installation costs; and compatibility with U. S. Army shore installation power systems, portable power plants, and private utility systems. The report concludes that the 208/120-volt system applied as described is feasible and should be immediately standardized for all Army craft. (Author)
