The report is a result of a feasibility study conducted for the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which desired to promote tourism, industry, and trade by establishing positive control of air traffic on the Island of Hainan. The objective of the study was to analyze the present and planned air traffic situation, assess the geophysical environment as well as existing resources, and make recommendations from which specifications could be developed. Major sections of the study include: Data Collection, Site Survey, Data Analysis and Projections, Air Route Definition, Air Traffic Control Concept, Area Control Center Recommendations, and Airport Facilities. Oversized charts, figures, or maps were removed prior to reproduction at NTIS.
