A fifteen man test cadre conducted a government operational verification test on two fire trucks. Thirteen tasks, including qualification tests, were performed to evaluate vehicle handling qualities, firefighting system performance, crew comfort provisions, vehicle reliability and maintainability. Vehicle employment concepts in conjunction with other firefighting apparatus were also evaluated. The truck provides good fire suppression capability for aircraft type fires when using the drive-around firefighting procedures with or without other fire vehicles. A number of malfunctions occurred during the test program; however, only one of those encountered would have prevented the vehicle from responding and applying at least 1200 gallons per minute of agent on the fire. Component part reliability must be improved before the vehicle enters the Air Force inventory.
