Volume 2 of a two volume coverage of parachute and decelerator technology continues the citations begun in volume 2. Devices such as towplates, ballutes, servoactuators, patented mechanisms, semiautomatic openers, and release systems are described. Discussions are made of inflatable, supersonic, autorotor, retrorocket, and other structures. Descent characteristics, trajectories, aerodynamic reffing, shroud line and snatch forces, and flare engineering are included. Also presented are materials on flight testing, models, wind tunnel tests, and computer aided design. Applications are to target drone retrieval, air drop and delivery, coastal upwelling, sewage water tracking, and mine ventilation. (This updated bibliography contains 103 abstracts, 98 of which are new entries to the previous edition.) See also NTIS/PS-76/0258, Parachutes and Decelerators. Vol. 1. 1965-1973.
