Existing crash test performance of longitudinal barrier systems was reviewed for compliance with NCHRP Report 230. Based on the review a matrix of five guardrail, two median barrier, and four bridge systems was evaluated with full-scale crash tests for occupant risk with 1,800-lb sedans. The results were evaluated using the recommended values of NCHRP Report 230 to which all systems were essentially in compliance. The final report includes the crash test results, design drawings for the systems tested in the research as well as for systems tested in other studies, and recommended changes to the test criteria.
