Tensile tests have been made on propellants from two rocket motors MK52. Samples from propellants near the motor wall had higher strength than propellant near the bore. Also the age of rocket motors influences the tensile strength which is decreasing with increasing age. The tensile strength of propellant cast in carton has decreased a little compared with previous measurements. This is valid for low temperatures. Measurement of moisture in propellant from motors indicates that about 0.25 - 0.35% moisture is to be found in the propellant. The moisture may be conducive to some decrease of strength with time. A desiccator could eventually be placed in the nozzle in order to decrease the decomposing effect on propellant of moisture during storing.
