This paper presents the results of flight tests using the NASA Terminal Configured Vehicle (TCV) Boeing 737 airplane to obtain position estimates with back-azimuth signals from a microwave landing system. The most accurate position estimates were obtained from a combination of back-azimuth and distance-measuring-equipment (DME) signals. Less accurate position estimates were obtained with back-azimuth signals alone; the least accurate position estimates were obtained with dual DME signals. (Author)
