The report describes the extension of State Highway 279. This includes the new construction of approximately 21 miles of paved highway and the eventual reconstruction of approximately 23 miles of existing paved road between the towns of Clarkdale and Williams, Arizona. The proposed highway would lie in Yavapai and Coconino Counties, Arizona. The highway would also create adverse impacts. Examples of these impacts are; reduced air and water quality, increased erosion and sedimentation of the area's waters, loss of 700 acres of grazing lands, increased road scars on the landscape, increased fire risk, and increased harrassment and pressure upon the area wildlife.
