The objective of the paper is to present the results of bridge testing program carried out at the University of Michigan. Three bridges were selected; two on I-94 and one on US-23, all in Michigan. Selected bridges were instrumented and truck measurements were taken. Truck weights and axle configurations were determined from strains in lower flanges of bridge girders. The equipment was calibrated using special control trucks. Normal traffic flow was considered. For each truck, the recorded parameters include the time of passage, speed, lane designation, number of axles, axle loads and spacings. The trucks were run through influence lines to determine the maximum moments and shears for various bridge span lengths. The resulting moments and shears are plotted on the normal probability paper to facilitate statistical interpretations.
