A 600' runway extension to the northwest and connecting parallel taxiway is proposed. The purpose of this project is to strengthen and upgrade the existing runway pavement which is old, deteriorating and incapable of sustaining the stresses placed on it by use and weather. The runway extension will more safely accommodate aircraft presently using the airport. The taxiway construction is necessary for efficient runway and also for safer airport operations. An estimated quantity of 25,000 cubic yards of fill material will be used to obtain proper elevation for the runway extension and taxiway construction. About 5,000 cubic yards of borrow material will be needed. The borrow material will be obtained from the high area directly west of the proposed extension. No borrow pits, as such, will result from this project. All graded areas will be seeded to prevent erosion.
