A six-month study of gasoline-engine-driven (GED), warehouse-type fork-lift trucks was performed. It resulted in the preparation of reliability records for the family of GED fork-lift trucks and for the 6000-pound truck, as well as a failure modes, effects, criticality, and avoidance analysis for the fork-lift truck family. This report describes the data-collection effort and identifies the types of data on fork-lift trucks and other materials-handling equipment that are available at various CONUS depots and can be used for similar reliability analyses. It outlines the mission-profile development for the GED fork-lift truck and documents the approach used. The report also presents the results of the reliability analyses and gives recommendations for using the data so obtained to improve fork-lift-truck management. (Author)
