This report focuses on the field trial of a GPS unit for measuring low helicopter airspeeds. The results indicated that the GPS has the potential to be used as a low-speed indicator. However, the possible loss of GPS signal, transient CPS results due to changes in satellites being used for the solution, time lag in the results and whether the assumption of a constant wind-speed is valid need to be considered.
