This report describes the final debugging and initial operation of the Data Processing/HAPDAR Field Test Facility at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The Facility consists of a specially programmed IBM 360/65 Computer operating with the Sperry Rand HAPDAR (Hardpoint Demonstration Array Radar). The integrated combination of computer, software, and radar, results in a system for detecting and tracking aircraft and missile targets at WSMR. Intended as a test bed for evaluating Ballistic Missile Defense software elements, the Facility was used in both real-time experiments and off-line simulations involving aircraft and falling-sphere targets. Athena missile firings at WSMR afforded occasional missile targets of opportunity, and an Athena was briefly detected by the Facility. (Author)
