Present and expected future household preferences toward the automobile and other modes of transportation are evaluated in this volume. The factors that influence consumer choices as reflected by current automobile ownership and alternatives to ownership are identified as well as travel patterns of the automobile and other modes of transportation. The analyses are based on a National Transportation Survey of approximately 1,100 households administered as part of this study in June, 1978.
