A description of a prototype U. S. Army meteorological rocket vehicle designed for systematic research and range support soundings is presented, including configuration, performance, cost and design criteria. Informal estimates of the utilization rate of the new vehicle by various U. S. Government agencies are presented. U. S. Army requirements for meteorological data in the stratosphere and mesosphere are set forth. (Author)
