The RU-8D airplane is used by the Army Security Agency as a command and utility vehicle. For this airplane an airfoil-type antenna was designed by the Ling-Tempo-Vought Corporation. This report summarizes the results of the airworthiness qualification test performed by the US Army Aviation Systems Test Activity. The antennas installed for this test were designed by the Beech Aircraft Corporation. Six test flights were conducted for a total of 8.5 hours (6.2 hours with antennas installed, 2.3 hours with antennas removed). A comparative analysis of stall characteristics and single engine minimum control speeds was performed.
