This report reviews the feasibility and desirability of helicopter emergency escape systems from the Army's viewpoint. Accident statistics, nap-of-the-earth flight, human reaction times, and crashworthy designs are considered, and the positions of various U.S. Army organizations are included. The escape systems reviewed include ejection and extraction seats, and passenger helicopter systems. (Author)
