The frame of the 'Ikar-67' glider is a welded girder-like structure made of 50-mm diameter duralumin pipe. The wing is principally supported by a pylon made of steel pipe of the same diameter. The wing, which is covered by madapollam or parachute fabric, has a span of 5 m, a maximum chord of 5 m, and an 8-degree sweepback. The glider is towed by a motorcycle with the aid of a tow bar, and is released after it is airborne and stable. Designer S. Pilipets gives a relatively detailed description of the glider. (Author)
