In order to facilitate designing a transit plan tailored to work trips in the Denver Metropolitan Area, a detailed study of work travel demand was undertaken. Travel patterns and trip concentration to high employment zones were identified. The existing bus network was evaluated through a graphical technique of overlaying the route network to the trip concentration map and recording on the overlay the concentrations of trips served by links of the route network. A similar process of using existing bus route overlays to the trip concentration maps provided a guide for locating new routes or altering existing ones to accomodate more work trip demand.
