The funds requested for the Operation and Maintenance, Air Force Reserve appropriation are required to maintain and train units for immediate mobilization, and to provide administrative support which encompasses the Office of Air Force Reserve (Air Staff), Headquarters Air Force Reserve (Operational Headquarters), the Numbered Air Forces and the Air Reserve Personnel Center. The FY 1996/1997 request provides for the operation and training of 63/62 flying units with accompanying 143,816/142,783 flying hours, 279 mission support units, Air Force Reserve flying installations, and the flying and mission training of 73,969/73,160 Selected Reserve personnel. Activities supported include aircraft operations, base and depot level aircraft maintenance, mission support, and supply and maintenance for Air Force Reserve units.
