Two vehicle versions were developed in the project entitled 'Optimization of M 100-vehicle program', that is type 200 with 4-cylinder carburetor engine and type 300 with 6-cylinder fuel-injection engine and closed-loop-system with TWC-catalyst. Both the carburetor engine and the injection engine were developed for two versions: As a bivalent version for methanol fuel and gasoline which will, in the future, be able to use methanol fuel as well as gasoline. These vehicles have an engine concept that is designed for a reasonable compromise between methanol- and gasoline operation. As a monovalent version, optimized for methanol fuel, which utilizes all the advantages of methanol compared to gasoline. These vehicles have got an engine with higher compression ratio (epsilon11,0) and are optimized for better thermal efficiency and fuel consumption. (orig.) With 31 figs. (ERA citation 14:008070)
