The purpose of this program was to provide an early evaluation of 1 Gbps 0.53 micrometers PGBM laser communication components and the subsystem. This evaluation was conducted on the MDAC-E digital baseband laser communication subsystem that was developed under company sponsorship to meet, as nearly as possible, the specifications of the Preliminary Subsystem Design.
