The report presents the results of a 60-mph front-to-rear crash test between two General Motors Experimental Safety Vehicles conducted for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The overall purpose of the program under which this test was conducted is to perform quantitative nondestructive and crash tests on ESVs manufactured by General Motors Corporation and Ford Motor Company. Primary objectives of the test reported herein were to determine the occupant and structural responses of the striking vehicle and to acquire limited data on the responses of the struck vehicle. A post-crash factors evaluation was also performed on the striking vehicle to evaluate fire hazard, rescue, and emergency egress.
