The report reviews the relationship between commuter trip chaining and high occupancy vehicle use. Research on the role of site amenities at two corporate sites in Williamson County, Tennessee showed that significant reduction and elimination of vehicle miles of travel resulted from employee on-site amenity activity. The research provides direction for microscale changes in the physical design and integration of land uses that will reduce trip chaining and better support TDM objectives. Incremental changes to retrofit or infill a richer, market-based mix of amenities, services and facilities into suburban office parks is recommended.
