Gradient type adaptation laws, together with a certainty equivalence control law derived from nonlinear decoupling and linearization techniques, are applied to the model of a spacecraft with flexible appendages in order to achieve asymptotic tracking on the presence of unknown parameters. Uncertainties in the inertia tensor and on the modal parameters (natural undamped frequencies and damping coefficients) are considered. The proposed control scheme is shown to asymptotically track the desired reference trajectories for large attitude maneuvers, ensuring the whole control system stability. Simulation results are discussed.
