A new CMOS single chip microcomputer with a complete set of system features has been designed. This paper describes the difference between this microcomputer and multi-chip microprocessors. It shows that with the on board analog to digital converter, power-fail detection, interval timer and powerful input/output capability a microcomputer is more suitable for automotive control applications than a microprocessor.
