The CSULA EcoCAR 2 Team is participating in the EcoCAR 2 Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition Series sponsored by General Motors Corporation, the U.S. Department of Energy, Natural Resources Canada, and Argonne National Lab. This report documents the design process of the CSULA Hybrid Electric Vehicle. The Vehicle Design Process, Powertrain Configuration, Control Development Process, Control System Architecture, Control Algorithm and Strategy, Packaging and Integration, and Energy Storage System are explained. Ultimately, anE85 Parallel Through-The-Road Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PTTR) was chosen as the vehicle architecture that could accomplish competition requirements and team goals.
