Refinery linear programming models were developed for Rocky Mountain, Mid-Continent, and Great Lakes regions to make future product volumes and qualities that were forecast for 1995.Shale oil and coal oil syncrudes were introduced as part of the raw materials slate. Cases were run to evaluate conventional products, maximum diesel fuel, and broadcut fuel in-all regions. Methanol, ethanol, MTBE, or synthetic naphtha were evaluated at 10 percent each in gasoline blends along with syncrude components.Composition and qualities of the fuels were determined. Effects on raw materials, energy consumption, and investment costs indicate some what more benefits for broadcut fuel than for maximizing diesel fuel. Gasoline supplements also show advantages in raw materials and energy consumption.
