With the change of traffic characteristics in the long-term service process of freeway, the current speed limit often can’t meet driver’s needs. Unreasonable speed limit not only affects the traffic efficiency and safety, but also affects the credibility of the management department. A comprehensive demonstration and analysis method is proposed to verify the feasibility of speed limit adjustment of freeway based on design index, operation speed and accident characteristics, and general speed limit section and special speed limit section are divided to meet drivers’ need. Taking a freeway in Shandong, China as an example to verify the feasibility of comprehensive demonstration and analysis model. The results show that it’s feasible to adjust the speed limit from 100 km/h to 120 km/h.
