Expressways, which are being made at very fast pace in recent times in India, are very unsafe for road users. In this study, accident data of 165.5 km of Yamuna expressway was analyzed, and a negative binomial model was developed for prediction of accidents on the expressway. Percentage of cars in traffic volume, horizontal curvature in degree per km, length of horizontal curve per km, number of vertical curves per km, and traffic in terms of 1000 PCU per day are taken as explanatory variables. Three explanatory variables, percentage of cars in traffic volume, number of vertical curves per km, and traffic in terms of 1000 PCU per day have significant effect on accident frequency for negative binomial model. According to the model, the accidents increase by 125% with increase of 1000 PCU per day in traffic and 5.4% with 1% increase in percentage of cars. However, accidents decrease by 3.3% with increase of one vertical curve per km.
