A subsonic flow streamlining a prolate body with a modified spherical nose shape was investigated in the range of Reynolds numbers (7.45–10)×104. Experimental research proved that the drag coefficient is reduced due to the symmetrical truncated cone hollow on the front part of the streamlined body compared to the spherical nose shape. Numerical experiments revealed the correlations between the drag coefficient and geometric parameters of the modified spherical nose shape. The paper provides recommendations for the choice of geometric parameters of the nose shape.
