Vertical dynamics play a crucial role regarding safety and comfort of modern passenger cars. Since both aspects can not be maximized at the same time, a conflict of interest arises. To overcome this conflict two innovative components, i.e. a fluid dynamic vibration absorber and an active air spring damper were invented. Both systems have the property to increase safety and comfort at the same time compared to a conventional spring-damper system.

    Within this paper these two components and their characteristics are introduced. Furthermore, a digital twin of each component is integrated within a whole vehicle simulation. The resulting co-simulation allows for evaluation of the components within various virtual scenarios. Additionally, first results for a comparison of the fluid dynamic vibration absorber to the conventional spring-damper system are depicted. As an outlook, an optimization scheme for the subsystems is introduced to find the optimal set of parameters regarding objective criteria.
