Abstract While existing literature talks about the choice between the use of private or public transportation and refers to the economics of transportation like travel times and reliability as well as environmental concerns (See for example VanVugt, Van Lange and Meertens 1996), there is no comprehensive empirical analysis about the drivers of a consumer’s behavioral intention to use mass transit systems. The context of this study is to explore the consumer’s intention to use of mass transportation systems, as compared to individual transport, using the context of mass rail transit.
