The article discusses the main problems that need to be solved by the global automotive industry at this stage of development. This is due to the environmental and economic issues of improving the efficiency of operation of electric vehicles. The task has been identified, and the solution will ensure that this goal is achieved. To improve the technical and economic performance of electric vehicles, it is necessary to increase the energy consumption of the battery, which will increase the capacity rating of the electric vehicle. A comparative analysis of the existing designs of traction batteries has been carried out. Lithium-ion batteries are the most energy-intensive of all existing batteries. Reducing the power lost in overcoming external resistance forces is necessary to accomplish this. The paper presents the results of a study of the dependence of the capacity rating of an electric vehicle on its speed and the loss of electric vehicles’ electricity to cover a distance of one kilometer. It is indicated that an effective way to increase capacity rating is to reduce the force of aerodynamic drag and recover the force of inertia. The coefficient of aerodynamic drag is one of the most important parameters that assess the efficiency of movement of various objects in the air. Methods of reducing aerodynamic drag are described. All these methods can be used in combination to achieve the best aerodynamic performance and improve the efficiency of an electric vehicle. To reduce the inertia force, it is necessary to reduce the mass of the electric vehicle. And mass reduction is possible due to the use of lightweight materials in an electric car. Several design solutions have been proposed to reduce the aerodynamic drag coefficient of electric vehicles. A design of a plate electrode fan based on the principle of the Biefeld-Brown effect is also proposed.
