An adaptive control method for vehicle Steer-by-Wire(SBW) system is proposed. Based on the fact that states in vehicle SBW system have large differences in time scales, the states of the vehicle SBW system are divided into slow and fast loops according to the difference of speed changes, then the adaptive controllers are designed for each system separately. The theoretical proof of system stability is provided. Finally, a simulation is designed to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
