The article presents results from a study of the reflection spectra of aluminized novel polyimide films before and after prolonged exposure to 50 keV electrons up to a fluence of 2.6 × 1015 cm−2. It has been shown that the changes in the reflection spectra of transparent films occur from the fundamental absorption edge to 1100 nm; for opaque samples - reflection deteriorates across the entire spectrum (up to 1800 nm). The influence of energetic electrons on the change in the band gap of polymer films has been determined. It has been established that electron irradiation leads to the appearance of absorption bands in the reflection spectra of polyimide films, associated with the formation of structural defects (radicals). After the exposure, a “bleaching” effect occurred. A comparative analysis of the kinetic dependences of the change in the integral absorption coefficient as of polymer films on the electron fluence was performed. An appearance of a “drop” (a decrease in the integral absorption coefficient as) was observed on the kinetic curves after a fluence of ~ 1.3 × 1015 cm−2 when the range of 50 keV electrons was greater than thickness of the samples. A possible explanation for this effect is proposed.
