The automobiles on the road are increasing as the population grows. As the number of vehicles increases, so do traffic delays and the frequency of road accidents. The traffic ministry's top priorities are road safety and management. Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) are a technology that plays a significant role in this direction. Vehicular networking is a technology that enables a variety of applications ranging from global Internet services to active road safety. Recent advancements in wireless networks have resulted in the birth of a new type of network known as a VANET. It is one of the Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) specializations. VANETs provide the framework for the development of innovative systems to improve the comfort and safety of drivers and passengers. This network was developed as Intelligent Transportation networks (ITS) to significantly improve the performance of transportation networks. The VANET offers a variety of non-safety services that require Quality of Service (QoS) assurance. The present study is analyzing the performance of designed VANET scenario on NS 3.29 simulator by using SUMO mobility generator tool. The performance metrics analyzed over four VANET routing protocols in a defined area. It has been recommended that Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) is the finest VANET routing protocol in the specified performance metrics in the designed scenario.
