The energizing global economy and emergence of the new markets are making a highly competitive rush for the sustainability in the industry. This encourages researchers in the industrial engineering community to think harder and bring in the concept of decisive intelligent system to make the best possible optimality for minimising the all-possible wastes. The problem that we address here is complicated and involves placing the shipbuilding blocks in the best possible way to reduce the wastage of space and, at the same time, balancing the load in pre-erection area because of the excessive block spatial occupancy. The problem cites dynamicity in its behaviour since the block arrangement of one particular day poses the geometrical constraint for the successive days to come. The intelligent system proposed here deals with the information processing solutions using genetic algorithm modified for the extraction of results in this critical shipbuilding problem.
