The Air Force logistics mission is to keep the weapon systems in a constant state of combat readiness world-wide. This mission is accomplished in part in the form of maintenance and supply support to all Air Force weapon systems. A key to insuring combat readiness is rapid and accurate diagnosis of weapon system malfunctions and availability of spare parts to effect repair of these malfunctions. Integrated maintenance diagnostics relies on Built-in-Test/Fault Isolation Test (BIT/FIT), training, personnel, support equipment, technical orders and data systems. The Generic Integrated Maintenance Diagnostics (GIMADS) Program is a methodology to incorporate into systems and modifications to systems a capability to effectively detect and isolate faults in the prime mission equipment and the associated support, test and training equipment. The methodology will be applicable to AFSC/AFLC system/subsystem acquisition modification programs, selected foreign military sales programs and weapon system using commands.
