On the linear induction motor (LIM) for propulsion of maglev vehicles with the cruising speed about 300 km/h for intercity traffic systems, the authors have offered to design the primary long, narrow and thin, in order to reduce the end effect essentially and decrease the secondary material which occupy the major portion of all the material costs. However, there are the problems of the suspension of the long primary on a vehicle and the difficulty to cope with a steep slope and irregularities of the track. To solve the above problem, the long LIMs divided into some short stators connecting in series would be suggested. However, as it had been discussed on very short length motors, it was not enough to clarify the behaviour of the practical vehicle with medium or high speed. In this paper, is discussed the performance of high-speed single-sided LIMs provided for intercity vehicle, which is divided into several stators and connected them in series. Here we use the space harmonic technique to analyze the model, in which the arrangement of primary winding and the finite length of each stator core are considered.
