Presents an account of Japanese operational and experimental communications satellites, meteorological observation satellites, participation in the International Geodynamic Project, Skylab, and scientific experiments on sonde rockets in co-operation with the University of Leiden. In all, 65 satellites are planned between 1978 and 1987. The first is to be a 130 kg Engineering Test Satellite in a geostationary orbit 36000 km above earth.
