The AT-MT-HT family of automotive transmissions was introduced in 1970. It was designed and developed with the objective of fulfilling the wide range of rating and application requirements of on-high-way heavy duty vehicles. The sum of the technical features of these automatic transmissions - modular concept, planetary gearing development, clutch plate material selection, hydraulic system design, and hydraulic controls refinement - are what make the family unique. The modular concept or building block principle, in particular, has facilitated several product modifications which have been incorporated in order to take advantage of European market opportunities.
