The Orbital Maneuvering Vehicle (OMV) is a teleoperated vehicle designed to perform such tasks as deployment, retrieval, re-boost, repair and resupply of payloads in space. This paper describes a simulator of the OMV at Marshall Space Flight Center. A mock-up of the PMV has six degrees of freedom, and can replicate the motion of the OMV during docking maneuvers with a target vehicle. A special robot is used to maneuver a second mock-up (target). The programmability and dexterity of the robot permit simulation of target vehicle motion in space. Detailed design and implementation of the simulator is presented. Such a system is valuable as a training tool for astronauts, and for verifying final design of the OMV.
