Regeration of worn machine elements by electroplating is a labour-consuming and expensive operation. In the Russian railway engineering, no existing facilities for electroplating can be taken into consideration for this purpose. Therefore, an electrotouch surfacing by wire welding was recommended for practical use. The appliability of the method was exemplified by pad welding of mandrels (steel 40Ch) with the martensite steel 40Ch13 (wires 1.6 mm in diameter). Hard surfaces (HRC 52) without any defects were reproduced in the process.
