This paper presents a new approach for modeling the three-dimensional dynamic behavior of rubber mounts for noise vibration and harshness (NVH) investigations in the time domain. Due to large displacements at low frequencies nonlinear behavior has to be considered. This could be caused by either frequency dependent material properties or by geometric effects that occur due to the shape of the elements or bumpers. This dynamic behavior is estimated through an identification process based on multi-axial measurements. Polynomial functions of variable degrees of freedom in combination with axis coupling are used for the mathematical description. These models are predominantly applied for multi-body simulations or in a linearized form for finite element method (FEM) calculations.
