Recently the demand for weldable 13% Cr line pipe has been increased. There are some requirements for larger outside diameter weldable 13% Cr such as 20inch or 24inch. Considering such a requirement, NKK Corporation in Japan and Dalmine Spa in Bergamo Italy have developed together larger size weldable 13 % Cr line pipes. The concept is, NKK supplies mother pipe and Dalmine expands the pipe in the expander mill. Sample pipes have been manufactured and weldability tests have been carried out in TWI, Cambridge, UK and corrosion tests in CSM Rome, Italy. As a result, NKK and Dalmine have successfully manufactured 20' seamless weldable 13% Cr pipes. Mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the base material and welded joints are excellent and meet the requirements for CO2 and slight sour environment. In this paper, the results of production and the tests carried out to verify the mechanical and corrosion properties of the joints are described.
